Lighthouse Fostering is proud to participate in Foster Care Fortnight™, The Fostering Network's flagship annual initiative aimed at elevating the fostering community. Slated for 13th to 26th May 2024, this campaign stands as the UK's most significant effort in boosting awareness about foster care, under the stewardship of The Fostering Network since 1997.
Foster Care Fortnight celebrates the extraordinary commitment, passion, and dedication displayed by foster carers. It serves as a pivotal moment for fostering services, shedding light on the pressing need for more foster families. The demand for foster homes, especially for older children, sibling groups, disabled children, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, continues to grow each year.
With the theme #FosteringMoments for 2024, Lighthouse Fostering eagerly anticipates commemorating the defining moments of the foster care experience. From confidence-building milestones to the instances that made a child feel secure and cherished, each moment plays a critical role in the foster care narrative.
During these two weeks, we encourage our entire fostering community, including foster carers, social workers, young individuals, Fostering Friendly employers, and supporters, to partake in sharing their impactful moments. Whether it was the approval day as a foster carer or the unforgettable first hug from a foster child, each story underscores the profound impact of every moment spent in fostering.
